17 Magnetized polish

Hey Friends!

Today I have an amazing polish to show you.  The idea of magnetic nail polish is not a new one; I know Essence and several other brands made polishes like this for some time, but a lot of them weren't actually available in the UK. Nails Inc recently came out a few colours, but this one was much cheaper.

This little gem from 17 came out some weeks ago. I found out about it on Twitter and was hunting for it for days after it was actually released, but to no avail.  Imagine my glee (yes, glee) when I found a stand full of these beauties on Thursday.

This is the blue.
So pretty. I really cannot fault it at all.

The formula is quite thick and the brush is flat and wide - this makes it easier to apply the polish in one stroke. I only used one layer.

How to apply:
  1. USE A BASECOAT!!!!
  2. Apply a generous coat of the Magnetized polish
  3. Take the magnet on the removable bottle cap and HOVER it over the wet nail polish for a few seconds.
  4. When the pattern has taken effect, remove the magnet, let the polish dry and marvel at your piece of art work!
The magnet.

I have another one of these for you in my next post.  If you like this polish, it's available at Boots (on-line and in store) and costs £4.99.

Oh, by the way, I picked these up myself and used my Advantage card to pay for them...

Boots Bargains

Happy Friday friends! I've had a murderous week and now I'm taking five minutes (whilst the baby sleeps) to post  little something for the weekend.

If you read my blog regularly, you'll know that I only tend to shop for nail polish in three places; Boots, Superdrug or online.  As I am forever in Boots buying nappies and baby wipes, I've been using my Boots Advantage Card to collect, store and use points. You get 4 points for every £1 spent and one point is equivalent to one FREE penny. Now, a penny on its own is not very much at all, but if you buy nappies at the price of , say, £10 every week, that's 40p for the week and £1.60 for the month. I never come out of there without spending less than £15 in one visit on baby bits or items for the bathroom so for me, the points build quickly.  To top it off, as a member of the mother and baby club, I get extra points on baby products.  I usually wait until I'm a little cash strapped before redeeming my points on pretty things for myself.

Long story short, if you have a Boots near you, get yourself an advantage card. They really come in handy, especially at Christmas. Save your points and you can do haul posts like this spending little to no money!

The Rimmels were spend £6 and get a FREE eyeliner
Maybelline - Buy two, get one FREE
Revlon Facets of Fuschia...no deal, bit it was too gorgeous to leave behind

Honestly, I can't remember the full total, but after using my points, I paid about £4 extra. Not bad eh?

Pretty, pretty polish (minus the tip wear). Thin black jelly with fuschia hexagon and micro glitters.

I'll be back with some art next post. Have a wonderful weekend.

Handpainted design

Hi friends!

I'm having trouble trying to name my manicures - brain freeze.

This one is inspired by an H&M dress that I was wearing recently.  I used 17's Twighlight Teaser as a base and acrylic paints for the flowers/pattern/thingies.

Um, not one of my best but hey!

So, I bought a Helmer...and did some stamping too.

Hey, hey everyone.  The weekend is nearly here!

Look what I bought...

Yes, I succumbed to the lure of 'The Helmer'.  I know I'd complained about the way it looked in the Ikea catalogue, but when I saw this 'white' one (which looked more like a cream colour), I thought it was passable.
It took one hour to get from this ^,

to this ^. It was pretty straightforward to put up, though the millions and trillions of pieces I found when I opened the box was a bit of a shock!

She fits cozily into the corner of my room. Unobtrusive, inconspicuous, quiet.

She's adorned by the crystals my late aunt gave to me every time I went to stay with her in Bussum, Holland.

My little girl helped to put some drawer liners (also from Ikea) in the drawers to stop the polish sliding around and she also arranged the polish too. The drawers do have labels on them, but they are there so she could figure out where to put what! What a sweetie <3

Overall, I do have to say that I am pretty happy with my purchase.  This little treasure is slim, easily hidden and is extremely spacious. The polish I have only fills 1.5 of the drawers! I've had to spread the rest of my art supplies, liquids and cotton wool around in the other ones...but I believe I need more polish. Muhahahahahaha.

Speaking of polish, I got 'Betty Blues' from Boots.  I had another £5 voucher so I only spent £2.
Such a gorgeous colour in the bottle...

...but rubbish on the nail.  Okay, so this has been on my nails for three days so it looks a bit worn, but the colour does NOT translate onto the nail at all.  Booooooo. I'm not going to use this again.

The images on my nails are from Shirley's plates (SdP A16)

Oh, it's my wedding anniversary tomorrow. Five years and two kiddies later, we still like each other, lol!

Bargain Polish...Boots No.7 Speed Dry - Queenie

How's everyone doing today?

Today I have a few pictures of a new polish I bought for a bargain.  No.7 is a brand of skincare and cosmetics that is exclusive to Boots the Chemist in the UK. Every so often if you spend over a certain amount of money, you'll be given a voucher entitling you to a discount on a specified range of products. This weekend I went looking for a polish that AnnKiins had recently swatched. I found it and I also found 'Queenie'.  I thought it looked lovely but wasn't convinced by the £7 price tag so I left the polish and paid for the rest of my shopping.  I then received a £5 off voucher for a range of cosmetics, including No.7. Now, I usually just throw the vouchers away (because they tend to be for something I wouldn't normally buy) but I noticed the '7' on it and asked the sales assistant if I could use the voucher immediately. I then went back to purchase said polish for only £2.  You know me, I love a bargain and this was no exception.  Hubby then handed me another voucher when I got home...so you know I'm going back, right?

Queenie has very tiny glitter particles in it. Very subtle.

This is three coats. You may notice what looks like 'tip wear', but it's actually shrinkage from my Nails Inc fast dry top-coat :-(  This is the true colour of the polish here.

Oooh, pretty shiny.

Until next time!
