Pink nails, glitter tips.

Hi everyone.

Here's a manicure that I was wearing a few days ago which incorporates two of my most favourite things - the colour pink and glitter!

Yes, I sat down and painstakingly added each individual glitter hexagon piece with love. 

The top picture is far more accurate in terms of colour. Alas, it doesn't have a name and the polish has a particularly strong smell...but it does look very nice. 

The polish and glitter came from this kit by Colour Couture* and retails at £9.99, available from Semichem.co.uk , which I don't think is a bad price for the amount of items you actually get. There are also instructions on the box for how to create a french manicure with the sticky guides that are provided - perfect for someone who is new to nail art or who wouldn't know where to buy. Although I generally don't enjoy these sorts of 'kits', due to my desire for more well-known cosmetics brands, this might make a nice Christmas present nonetheless. If you are having a 'Secret Santa' game in your office at work, the price isn't bad at all.

Moon manicure massacre

I was sitting here completely uninspired the other day and whilst browsing various vintage style links on Google I found an idea I wanted to try. Honestly, in terms of style, I'm a bit of a mish-mash. I like a lot of looks, one of which is vintage. Yes, vintage is such a broad term, but I like everything from high-necked lace blouses and cameos from the Victorian era to the pin-roll hair styles of the 50's. I'll take a good chiffon blouse with a pussy bow tie any day, but I'm far from ladylike. I had thought about posting a pictures of a few things that represent me (aside from nails) but I don't know...would you be interested in a post like that? Let me know?

Anyway, I'm rambling again. I decided to try a 30's (but also popular in variations in the 40's AND 50's) 'Moon Manicure'.  Apparently, the trend was to paint only the part of the nail, leaving the nail tip and half moon area bare. Painting the entire nail was considered to be quite a bold statement...

 Ehhhhh. I'm thinking that this is one vintage trend I should steer clear of. My nails are a little too long and too square for this style. My tips look so white too. This, this and this are better examples of what DOES suit me!

I wore this for one day and then I got fed up of hiding my fingers, so off it came!

31 Day Manicure Challenge Day 18 - 'Half moons'

Oh gosh! An hour left for me to show you my 18th manicure of the 31 day challenge...half moons.

Now, I actually like half moon manicures and I really don't know why I haven't done them more often.

Here are the photos... a LOT better than yesterday's!

 

China Glaze's 'Seduce Me' and rhinestones from Viva la nails and the golden steel balls? I can't remember where they're from.

As these were only going to be worn for one day, I didn't use glue - I stuck the rhinestones onto a layer of tacky clear polish and I didn't use a top coat on them either.

I've experimented again with the 17 Crackle Top Coat.  Here it is with OPI's Bogie...after three days of wear.

It's weird, but I think I like it! Do you?

Half moons and roses...

 My Friday fingers...

The other day I was over at Nail Art Express and I saw this gorgeous design:

If you haven't already seen Ying's blog, I suggest you take a look.  She has some serious talent. So much so,  I had to ask her if I could try the design out for myself. 

I tried to replicate the design:

 I used Beauty UK's Glam Nails in Soft Grey.  Three coats made it opaque and I didn't have to wait long; this polish dried very quickly. 

 My acrylic paints come in handy.

I put dots of paint next to each other and swirled them around until they looked like flowers; I'm still learning how to make them look less like blobs! My half moons aren't great either, but I did them free-hand because I didn't have any french manicure guides.

Oh, and I had a great time at the circus yesterday, but my phone has no flash and my pictures came out too dark.  My hubby has some nice ones so I'll try to steal them and put them up at some point.
