31 Day Manicure Challenge Day 6 - Violet

I'm really bringing out my firsts for this challenge; I believe this was my first ever GOSH...ahhhhh!
No complaints with the formula. It applies well and isn't streaky.

Here is what I am wearing today:
Wild Lilac. I have a love affair with pink and purple. This is my bit on the side.

Three coats later, it's not streaky and it did look great, but it was boring.

The flakie goodness of Nfu-Oh's 50

Forget the polish. That bottle is BANGING!

Next up is Black and White...oooooooh!

31 Day Manicure Challenge Day 5 - 'Blue'

Happy Saturday folks.

So, we are on day five of the challenge and I have a stunner for you.  This is China Glaze's Frostbite.

This is one of the first China Glaze purchases I made for myself last year. The formula is lovely, and it took just two coats to get full coverage...I used three out of pure habit.

Daylight shot.

Unfortunately, it didn't last that long because I found a blue shatter polish by Barry M whilst tidying my helmer the other day. Here is the switch-a-roo.

The base was a nice pearl with a sprinkling of glitter particles (it was an old polish and it didn't have a label). The pearls were from Bornprettystore and were a part of a mini-haul that I got last weekend. I'll show you that another time though.

Which blues are your favourites?

31 Day Manicure Challenge Day 4 - 'Green'

Hi all, happy Friday!! Today is day 4 of the challenge and it's a green day.

I have so many beautiful greens, but again, I thought I would pick one that I haven't worn often (or at all).  This is Claires Peaceful/Confident Mood Polish.

I really like mood polishes but I think they look best on long nails. If you've never seen them before, they have nothing to do with your mood! The warm part of your nail turns one colour and the free edge stays the other colour because it is cooler. If you dunk your hand in either warm or cold water, your nails will be only one colour.

I haven't seen these anywhere on sale in the UK - these were given to me by a friend who was on holiday in the US some time ago.

This is what the colour actually looks like, lol! I used a DSLR, a point and shoot, sunlight, shade, a light box and every white balance setting on my camera to try and capture the REAL colour. After using three coats and getting a mattified finish, this mani still chipped by the end of the day. You can see where in the picture above.

Who said that this challenge would be easy, eh??

Roll on the blue!

31 Day Manicure Challenge Day 3 - Yellow

Hey, hey!

How's everyone doing?

Today is day three of the manicure challenge and the colour is yellow - a colour I usually never wear on its own, only as part of a manicure.

Beauty UK's Yellow Peril

This was three coats. For some reason these sorts of colours are difficult to get right in less than three coats; they are streaky.
Hmmm...still not something that I'd wear on its own!

Aly and Sophie are also on the same day as me as are several other ladies. Good luck to all :)

31 Day Manicure Challenge Day 2 - Orange

Day 2 of the manicure challenge is orange and I have a lovely one for you...also a beast to photograph!

Studio M's Lovin' it.

This picture isn't a good one either because it doesn't show the miniscule blue/pearl particles in it. It's quite a cold colour actually and not one of the best that I've ever worn. But I've go so many untrieds and unloved, so I need to do my best to use them.  There is one good thing with this polish though; it dries really fast.

This old picture was taken in a lightbox photo in January and it shows the shimmer a little more here:

Day 3 is yellow...

31 Day Manicure Challenge Day 1 'Red'

Okay, so here is my first installment in the challenge. Today is 'Red' day!
I generally don't wear much red, and if I do, then it's a dark one. I think bright reds tend to make my hands look big, so I steer clear of them.  For this challenge I left my comfort zone and went for this:

Rimmel's Double Decker Red. I love Rimmel and I like this red too...but it was a monster to capture on camera! I looks like it has an orange hue, but no, it's the colour of a good old double decker and a post box. The formula is a dream and I honestly can't fault any of the Rimmel colours.

See what I mean about the colour? It's not true to life at all.

Here is an old photo of a SIMILAR polish with a bit of shatter and some stickers:

Side note: I think I like my nails this shape...

I have another red that I wore recently, by Maybelline:

How are you doing with your challenges??
